RICH DRAPER DIES.
SUCCESS FROM ADVERTISING. INCIDENT IX HIS CAREER. LONDON, April 7. On the night before the funeral of Mr A. W. Gamage, founder of a famous firm of sports outfitters, who died vesterday, his remains will rest in his old office in Holborn. Close by is the site where, half a century ago, Mr Gamage established a diaper's shop with a capital of £l5O, of which his share was £45. To-dav the firm's takings are more than £1,000,000 a year. The late Mr Gamage attributed his success to advertising. His keenness in business was instanced when a mother rang him up at his private house one Christmas Eve saying that a toy horse and cart ordered as a Christmas present for her son had not arrived. Mr Gamage went to Holborn, found the tov donned the whiskers and red gown of Santa Clans, and by 8 a.m. on Christmas Day was handing the gift to the child.
