STEAMER ADRIFT.

THE REMUERA AT TIMARU. | (Special to the “Guardian.”) TIMARU, March 24. The Remuera, commanded by Captain Barnett, broke adrift from her moorings at Timaru about 11 a.m. today in a strong north-wester. One stern line went first and then the two others, followed by another three, which cracked with a great noise. She was anchored on' the south side of the No. 3 wharf and the wind blew her to within 401 t. of the Wingatui, which is on the north side of the No. 2 wharf, Here her how lines held her firm. At 1 p.m., with the aid of winches ancl engines, she was held secure. There is no further danger. At the time of the mishap the Remuera was loading frozen meat and general cargo for Great Britain. The gale abated somewhat toward afternoon.
