OCCUPATION BABIES.
FIFTEEN THOUSAND ESTIMATED.
EVASION OF DUTY ALLEGED. t ' * (United Press. Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) ' BERLIN, October 30. Like Kipling’s, “Absent-minded beggar,” the British troops that occupied the Rhineland! ave apparently leaving a lot of little things behind them. The Radical newspaper “Welthuelme” estimates that the British left 8000 stranded babies, and alleges that they are .systematically evading their obligations, in contradistinction to the French, who are voluntarily providing for their offspring. The British United Press Berlin correspondent at Berlin, however, was officially informed that the British troops behaved more decently than the French, who were most- remiss. The most surprising allegation is that in proportion to their number, United States soldiers have the worst lecord. Unofficial estimates suggest that the total of occupation babies is 15,000.
