DURATION OF MATCHES. WARNER DESIRES A CHANGE. LONDON, December 26. P. F. Warner, writing on the question of played-out Tests, says: "The Australian view deserves serious consideration. Also, many are prepared to urge that such fixtures as Gentlemen versus Players should be revived. The Australian programme thinks that four days' play from 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. should be allotted, with a fifth day indefinite provided the rubber has not beeir-decided. "There is over-much county cricket. A reduction of the programme when the Australians are here would be a welcome and beneficial break."—Australian Press Association. COMPETITIONS POSTPONED. ..The Ashburton County Cricket Association's senior and junior competitions have been postponed on account of the holidays for two weeks, and will be continued on Saturday, January 12The match in the junior competition's, St. Stephen's y Technical, which was commenced last Saturday, will be concluded to-morrow.
