CHRISTCHURCH TOURNAMENT. SECOND DAY'S PLAY. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Good progress was made with the second day's play in the open and handicap Cliristmas tennis tournament at Wilding Park yesterday. Most of the open events reached the semi-final stage and in one or two one of the finalists were found. Weather permitting, the titles will be decided to-mor-row afternoon. Results in the open events were:—■ Men's Doubles. —Semi-final: B. B. and A. B. Loughnan beat R. Browning and E. G. Boddy, 7-5; 6-3. W. S. Somerville and R. H. Tait beat W. Goss and P. G. Greenwood, 6-2, 6-4. Women's Doubles. Semi-final: Misses B. Gould and <■ <jllett beat Misses H. Jones and R. Dallas, 6-0, 6-3. Misses N. Reed and G. I\7. Loney beat Misses D. Scott and Blackwell, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. . ' Boys' Singles.—Semi-final: E. D. Broughton beat J. Aspell, 6-5, 4-6, 6-4. M. A. Rickard beat S. H. Barnett, 6-4, 6-5. Final: E. D. Broughton beat M. A. Rickard, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Girls' Singles.—Semi-final: Miss I. Poole beat Miss M. Bridges, 6-3, 6-1. Miss O Longmore beat Miss K. Boyle, 6-4, 6-1.
THE HAKATERE CLUB. The offiical opening of the Hakatere Tennis Club will take place to-morrow, when a Yankee tournament will be held.
