LOCK-OUT AVERTED.

COTTON DISPUTE SETTLED.

(United Press Association—Copyright] LONDON, August 2.

The Lancashire cotton lockout has been averted through tire spinner, Ackland, rejoining the union on certain terms that have not been disclosed.— Australian Press Association, United Service.

On June 22 it was cabled that owing to a strike in a mill at Oldham, on account of a difference between the operative, Ackley, and his union, the Federation of Master Cotton Spinners decided upon a lock-out affecting 500,000 workers. The employers protested that Ackney's trouble with the union was no concern of theirs and objected to having the work of a mill held up on swfli grounds.
