TWENTY-F»VE YEARS AGO, (From "Guardian," April 16, 1903.) Borough Council. —The Ashburton Borough Council met last evening, when there were present: His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), and Councillors Alcorn, Jones, Davis, Keicf, Clark, Willis and Timmine. It was reported that the bank debit balance was £2289 13s 9d. Tinwald iScbool Commit* 66 - —Th e monthly meeting, of the Tinwald School Committee was held on, Thursday evening, when there were present: Messrs Clothier (chairman), R. Tremain, S. Giles, Bonnington. The master' & report stated that the roll number was 121, with an average attendance for the month of 98. Catholic Literary Society.—-The Ashbtifirton Catholic. Literary Society met last evening, the programme taking the form of a social evening. Songs, violin solos, recitations and character sketches comprised the first part of the programme, which was followed by gramophone selections by Mr Crow, of Tinwald.
