Replying to trie contention by Captain Moody that the fitting of floats to his machine is unnecessary, the Minister for Defence said the Commonwealth Government's attitude toward these flights remained unchanged. The Government was emphatic that flights over water must not be undertaken to a distance greater than 50 miles unless* seaplanes or amphibian machines were used. INQUIRY AS TO CONDITIONS. Captain Moody and Mr Jolley (the wireless operator) have left for Melbourne to interview Mr Bruce - regarding the conditions under which the Tasman flight .will be permitted by the Federal Government.
