A. G. A. Baigent, of the Ashburton! High School, has gained a University National Scholarship. Beryl L. Butterick, D. A. Smith, and Lynda M. Ley all of the Ashburton High School, passed with credit. Dr. Phyllis Moir (of Thames) commenced duties as house surgeon,at the County Hospital this morning. • Dr. Janette Grave, whohas resigned, leaves Ashburton on Monday. _ The resignations of Mrs F. L. Webb (Lauriston) and Miss O. M. Armstrong (Maronan) were accepted by the Canterbury Education Board yesterday. In view of her long service it was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Miss Armstrong. In the wiremen'e examination held by the Electrical Wiremen's Registration Board in October* last, the following Ashburton candidates passed, the results coining to hand this morning:— Written part—A. A. Wills, ,E. Zohrab, and G. N. Rooke. Practical part—A. H. Baughan- R. P. Dalton, C. T. J. Leslie, N. Mulvey > L. W. Reeves, and "A. A. Wills. For the New Zealand Electrical Federation's special prize in the practical part, AH. Baughan (Ashburton) and L. Thomas (Wellington) tied with 91 marks out of 100. There were 228 candidates.
