HIS NIAJESTY'STHEATRE. It was inevitable that one day an Anzac would appear on the. scene, lui Lorraine, now with Chadwick Pictures Corporation, a native of New Zealand, has perhaps started what will prove to be an influx of Anzac folk. At any rate, Tui, the first screen player from "down under," has finished her first picture and will make her local debut at His Majesty's Theatre to-night and to-mor-row night and at the matinee in the Master picture release, "Sunshine oi Paradise Alley." An added attraction for to-morrow night will be "Summer. Bachelors." There are good Supports and a good musical programme.
BURNS' NIGHT TO-MORROW, The 169th anniversary of the birth of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, will be celebrated by a Burns' Night at the Orange Hall to-morrow, commencing at 8.30 o'clock. The Ashburton Scottish Society has been fortunate in securing the presence of the Hon. jAines Craigie, M.LvC, of Timaru, who is acknowledged as the great authority on Burns, in "New Zealand. Mr Craigie has lectured throughout the Dominion on the subject, and in Timaru, where he was Mayor for many years. One of his girts to the town was a life-sized statue or, Burns, which stands near the entrance to the Park. When he was in Scotland in 1924-25 he nresented a memorial to the memorv of Robert Fergussqn. who inspired Burns, and this memorial stands in one of the largest of the Edinburgh churches. It is 21 years (not 14 years, as stated yesterday) since Mr Craigie last addressed an Ashburton audience. Appropriate musical items will be given.
