THE AUTUMN MEETING. | AN INCREASE IN STAKES. At a recent :meetingofJ;he Ashburton Trotting Club, Mspl. F. Niooll presided oyer,a,good attendance. The balance-sheet of the | UIQ mer meeting held on Boxmg Day disclosed a substantial profit. • It was decided that the stake for the New Zealand Sapling Stakes, 1929, be increased to £550. . The matter of drawing up the .programme for the Autumn meeting on April 21 was left in the hands of the Programme Committee, with power to aC A recommendation that the stakes be increased to £I6OO was discussed at the subsequent meeting ot the programme Committee, when the piogramme was drawn up and the sum ot £1575 allotted to stakes—an increase ot £75 over the meeting pf last year. Accounts totalling £l2B Us 2d were passed for payment.
