METHVEN NEWS.

THE BOY SCOUTS. The monthly meeting of the Citizens' Committee of All Saints' Boy Scouts, Methven, was held in the Parish Hall on Monday evening, when there " were present, Messrs Buckett, Mcintosh, Aitken and Booth. An apology for absence was received from Mr Foreman. The chairman (Mr Buckett) outlined a scheme for the general improvement or the troop and for the encouragement of the boys to take a deeper-Jnterest in the movement, incidental to which was the idea of the committee giving a cup to have engraved on it the name of the best all-round boy for the yearj Dominion Headquarters wrote asking the committee's view on the suggestion of giving a discharge certificate to Scouts when leaving the movement, as it might be useful to them in after life. The secretary was instucted to write approving the idea, subject to the conduct of the Scout being good during his term of association with a troop. Notice was received of a Scout Jamboree to be held in England in 1929. The boys would be away about six months and it would require £125 per boy for the trip. The names'of those boys who would be able to go are to be furnished by March 31.

Dr. W.„ H. D. McKee, who has been spending a vacation at has returned to Methven. Dr. Sutherland who was acting as locum tenens during Dr. McKee's absence lias left for the south.

Mr Arthur Adams ,of the Bank of New Zealand, Methven, accompanied by Mrs Adams and their little daughter, after spending the week-end at Methven, motored to Timaru. Mr Adams is making a good recovery from his recent operation.

Mr Howard Cox, Christchurch, has assumed duties as clerk at the Methven Railway Station, vice Mr C. Clayton, who has been transferred to Christchurch.

Mr Arthur Osborne, of the Methven Postal staff, is on holidays in North Canterbury.
