(Per Press Association.) GrREYMOUTH, This Day. John James Gifford was charged today with the theft at Roa on May 30, 1924, of £9 Is 2d. the property of C. J. Moore,.. Accused was asked at the time to collect Moore’s pay * or him. He did so and absconded. He was arrested at Lyttelton last week The defence was that accused uas drunk at the time of the offence. Probation for 12 moHths was grantee, accused to pay costs. His good record was taken into consideiation.
