Bush fires caused by the intense heat which ruled during the past week are raging in many country districts, and excessive damage h-ae been done. .Large forces of volunteers are fighting hard to hold the outbreak) in check, but continual changes in the wind, in some cases frustrated their efforts-. In the Gippsland district many houses were destroyed. It is stated that the townships of Flynn and Flynn’s Creek are in danger of being destroyed. . . „ . ' The timber districts are suffering severely.
