MEMBERS WANTED.

A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING ON MARCH 9. The general committee of the Ashburton A. and P. Association met this afternoon, the president (Mr P. Shearer) presiding over a fair attendance. Referring to membership, the President said stops would have to bo taken to enroll new members.

“Is there anyone we haven’t got on our books?” asked Mr It. Houston.

“Oh, yes,” said the president, “there is a lot of them.”

“Well, I can’t find any in my district,” replied Mr Houston, amid laughter. The president added that the I anners’ Union now had over 700 members. Mr A. Moore agreed that steps should be taken to add more names to the Association’s books. No action was decided upon. The president stated that there was no correspondence to come before the meeting, which had been called mainly to fix the date of the annual meeting. He suggested March 9 as a suitable clcito. The matter was discussed at length, members pointing out. that few numbers would take an interest in the meeting while the harvest was m full swing. , , March 16 was suggested, but the president said lie had particular reasons why the meeting should be held not later than March 9, but he was not at liberty to divulge the reasons. There would be something coming up winch unembers would be notified of m due course. , . , ~ It was agreed that March 9 be the date of the annual meeting, the time fixed being 2 o’clock.
