PERSONAL.
Mr G. J. Wallace (Mayor of Timaru) was a passenger on the express for the north yesterday. Mr A. G. Henderson, manager of the Lyttelton Times Co., Ltd., was a visitor to Ashburton to-day. Dr. George Lyon, of Bournemouth, England, was a passenger on the Port Caroline which reached Lyttelton yesterday. He is at present staying in Ashburton. Mr H. E. M. Fleet, of the railway shunting staff at Ashburton, has been promoted to the position of guard, and leaves on Tuesdiay to take up his duties at Omakau. Adjutant 0. E. Ransom and Mrs Ransom, who have been in charge of the Ashburton Corps of the Salvation Army for some months, left by the express yesterday to take over their duties at Linwood. Their successors in Ashburton, Ensign T. Moore, and Mrs Moore, arrived yesterday and" are to be officially welcomed this evening.
