<From Our Own Correspondents.) The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Mayiield A. and P. Association was held in the hall on Monday evening, the president (Mr L. It. Harrison) presiding. There were also present:—Messrs H. B. McMillan, H. C. Barton, J. Moore, A. D. Kirkland, A. A. Fleming, J. A. Fleming, O. W. Gillies, D. J. Morrow, L, A, Oakley, H. A. Seown, A. V. Barrett, G. Johnston, J. Early, R. J. Biddick, D. Duff, G. Richardson, F. G. Greenslade, J. Blair, and D. Edmond. The President referred to-the death, of Mr 0. Murdoch, and a. motion of sympathy with Mrs Murdoch and family was carried in silence, members standing. The Domain Board wrote in reference to the charges for admission to the •ground, that the association proposed "to make. It stated that the Act would -not allow thnfc cars be charged more .than two shilling? admission. The secsretary was instructed to communicate with the Rangiora A. and P. Association, which also uses a Public Domain, for a show, asking for information on the subject. It was decided to apply to the Domain Board for permission to charge two shillings for adults and nio-tor-tars. Several judges wrote accepting positions in ditferent sections The treasurer reported that there was a credit balance of £45 16s Bd. A long list of special prizes and trophies was read. The president, vice-president and immediate past-president were appointed to allocate the special prizes. The secretary reported that the picture in aid of the funds had been most successful, the association making a profit of between £8 and £9. It was decided to hold another picture ■entertainment late in the year, the date to be arranged by the social subcommittee.
MOUNT SOMERS. Those present at the monthly meeting of the Mount Somers School Committee were Messrs G. Mm Doak (chairman), R. W. Todd, G. S. Alexander, and J. T. Bull. The secretary reported a credit of over £3, proceeds from the recent dance. It was decided to ask the Railway Department to run a combined Schools' Excursion on the M.t. Somers branch line to Timaru early in Fehruai-y. Improvements to grounds and repairs to buildings were authorised. , In the absence of the Rev; J. W. P. Dyer ; who is on annual vacation the Anglican services on Sunday were conducted by the Rev. A. H. Norris (Cashmere Hills). : ' '■--; After a week of damp easterly conditions, heavy rain fell* on Saturday night, 61 paints being recorded on Suntcay;. Conditions this week have shown a marked improvement, and the longdesired spell of sunshine is being experienced. Several heavy crops in the Buceleuch district were laid to the ground with the recent rains, but have mostly revived under the warm sunshine. Rust is noticeable in several crops about the district.
