ROAD BOARDS.

WAKANUI. N The Wakanui Road Board met yesterday afternoon, when- there were present: Messrs F. Frampton (chairman), L. Hanrahan, 'J. Watson, and A. Bennett. The chairman reported that the right to cut cocksfoot had been sold to Mr E. Goss for £52. Correspondence was received from the Public Works Department, stating that the Board's application for a subsidy to assist them in their work on Buckley's Road should be accompanied by a guarantee that the road would be! properly maintained by the Board. The works reports showed that maintenance work had been done on Gibson's road during the first half of the month, since when the day men had been engaged on a contract for shingling about a mile of Le Breton's Road. It was decided to apply for a Subsidy from the funds collected from the petrol tax to assist in maintaining the Hakatere Road, which is mainly used by visiting motorists. 'Accounts totalling £99 were passed for payment.
