Reeves explained, wlien lie and Laurence William Hobby were charged with fighting in Kilmore Street at about 10.20 .p.m. on Sunday. The question of an introduction was raised, and one man shook his fist in the other man’s face. Reeves, who evidently had much the worst of it, had a very black eye as he stood in the dock. . The Magistrate said to him: ‘You evidently have received part of your punishment, and now you will receive the rest. Both of you are fined 20s, with 2s 6d costs, in default three days’ imprisonment with hard labour. “I’d rather pay the 22s 6d than put in three days,” Reeevs said. “All right, please yourself, the Magistrate replied.
