ENTERTAINMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Jack Hoxie, the popular .western hero, plays the starring role in lhe Wild Horse Stampede" (which will be shown at His Majesty's' Theatre tonight), and ~ets himself into and out of enough trouble to down a dozen heroes of less sturdy mould. The plot, which involves Jack's possession of a band of wild horses, and his neighbour's attempts to force him to dispose of them, starts off in high gear and gains speed until a whirlwind climax brings about a satisfactory state of affairs. The picture to-morrow night is 'White Slippers." HOSPITAL CONCERT. Those people who were fortunate in hearing Madame Florry Roscoe on her previous appearance in Ashburton will not like to miss the opportunity of again hearing this talented artiste at the Hospital concert in the Theatre Royal on June 28. Patrons should book early, as_ tickets are selling rapidly. The object in view, that of providing a wireless, set with head phones for the County Hospital, is a most worthy one. Mrs Donaldson, mezzo-soprano, winner of gold medal at the Wellington Competitions, will also annear, assisted by Messrs Geo. Smith, H. Clemo, and Alex. Prentice; also instrumental items by Mrs H. J. Chapman, Mrs W. G-. Macdonald, Misses Fletcher and Galbraith, and Mr J. W. Wood, 'cello. The Theatre Royal will be especially heated for the comfort of patrons. CATHOLIC CLUB'S EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. The Ashburton Catholic Club's weekly euchre tournament was attended by about 60 supporters of the club. The prizes were won by Miss N. Mulvey and Mr J. Mora.
