ANOTHER OPPRESSIVE DAY. Warm, summerlike conditions continue to prevail in Ashburton, to-day being hot and oppressive. Early this morning the sky held dark clouds, but these gave place to light, fleecy ones later in the day, the sky remaining practically overcast throughout The morning. TJie temperature yesterday ranged from 54 to 70 degrees, compared with 47 to 73 on Thursday, while the barometer this morning stood at 29.72, a drop of 26 points compared with yesterday’s reading. . ' OFFICIAL FORECAST. The following forecast was issued to-day:— Indications are for freshening northerly winds at times and backing by north to west. Expect warm and sultry weather. The weather appears to be cloudy and unsettled with rain following. The barometer has a falling tendency.
