CRICKET HUMOURS.
VICTORIA'S HISTORIC SCORE. TRAGEDY BECOMES COMEDY. (Per Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) _ Commenting on Victoria's historic defeat of New South' Wales, Mailey says it was marked by many humorous incidents. When the visitors saw the scoring official trying to crowd a fourfigure score into a space meant for three figures, tragedy became comedy, and though they tried hard their sense of humour was a greater asset than their cricket ability. Andrews, on leaving the field, declared: "If we can get two or three thousand in our second knock we will make a game of it." The bowlers admitted the argument, but pointed out that they had to get the Victorians out again, and they themselves did want to get home for Easter.
Warwick Armstrong, on being informed that Jackson was only 17, replied: "Well, it is just as well he's young. He will be 27 before you get Victoria out "
