Summing up the year's work in manufacturing industries, Mr Marks (president of the Chamber of Manufacturers) said: "The year has not been prolific of new industries in New South Wales, for the State cannot o-uarantee the pioneer of a new line the same legislative stability that appears to be fairly certain in other States. ' Manufacturing during the year tended toward perfection of methods in existing industries rather than toward an addition to their variety. „ . . * "During the vear, manufacturing industries in South Wales.accounted for £138,000,000 out of £400,000,000 which is the estimated total production of. all industries in Australia.
