CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Plunket Shield match, Auckland v. Canterbury, was resumed this morning. The wicket was faster than on the first day. Cooper (42) and Al- - (0) resumed the Auckland innings, Read taking up the attack. Aleott broke his dude with a nice glide to leg for a couple. Cooper had just passed the half-century when Cunningham clean-bowled him. Dacre, who followed, scored a single and then Cunningham surprised Aieott with a. ball which completely beat him, knocking his stump flying. Gillespie was the newcomer, and brough about Dacre’s downfall. He played Read straight to Cox at squaredeg and called for a run. Cox threw the hall smartly to Boon, who had the hails off before Dacre could dive. in. With six Auckland wickets down for 172, and three of the northern cracks disposed of for the addition of 23 to the overnight score, Canterbury’s prospects began to look brighter. Talbot (Canterbury’s twelfth man) replaced Crawford, who left the field ill. At mid-day, Auckland had scored 197 for six wickets. WELLINGTON v. OTAGO/
WELLINGTON, This Day. The weather for the resumption of the Plunket Shield fixture, Wellington v. Otago, was vastly improved to-day. At noon, Wellington’s score was 54 runs for one wicket (Green 8, Blunt not out 30, Knight not out 14, extras 2).
