LADIES' GOLF CLUB
METHVEN ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the lady members of the Methven Golf Club was held in the Parish Hall on Monday. There was an attendance of 15. An apology for absence was received from the captain (Mrs 9. G. Holmes). The report showed that the past season had been successful in every way. AH trophies donated had been allocated and played for, and the members' thanks were due to the donors, Mesdames Holmes, Smith, Jesssep, Thomas, Lloyd, and Messrs Harris and Lloyd. Four club prizes were presented to the winners on closing day. Matches were played against Lake Coleridge and Hororata clubs, and in these matches the club's representatives acquitted themselves creditably. The match against Ashburton had to be abandoned on account of bad weather. During the season the ladies provided the afternoon tea, the club supplying assistance in regard to attendance in the buffet. Much regret was felt by the committee at losing the services ot Mrs Holmes toward the end of the season, but in her unavoidable absence the vice-captain (Mrs E. D. Thomas) carried out the duties. The outgoing committee thanked the members for their support during the season, and wished the club every success in the future. ' , The election of officers resulted as follows:—Captain, Mrs E. D. Thomas; vice-captain, Mrs G. Heney; hon. secretary, Mies Alice Stone; committee, Mesdames Stanley Smith, A. Baxter, E Green, and Miss Marsden. The following were elected members of the club:—Mesdames A. McKay, John Watson, W. Morgan, and Miss Grace Morgan. . It was decided to continue the same arrangements for afternoon tea as last Year It was decided that matches be drawn at 1.30 p.m. It was a recommendation to the Governing Committer* that local rules be printed on the back of the score cards. The levy for matches was set down at 2s 6d. The following donated trophies for competition during the forthcoming season: —Mesdames Smith, Waddington, Morgan, Thomas, and Misses A. and E. Stone.
A hearty vote of thanks was passed 1 to Mesdames Holmes a."d Thonrs for their valuable services during the past season, and regret was expressed at the loss of Mrs Lloyd, who is now resident in Kaikoura. A vote of thanks was also accorded the hon. secretary, Miss A. A. Stone.
