LOYALIST EMPLOYEES
N.S. WALES RAILWAYMEN. FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. (Per Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Tins Day. It is possible that the 1917 loyalists in the employ of the railway and tramway services will not only suffer regression in seniority, but also suffer by having their wages reduced m conformity to the., positions held as a result of regrading. . When the Government issued its minute demanding the regression of loyalists, the Premier (Mr J.. T. Lang) said the Government desired that loyalists should receive the same rate of wages as if they had not been regressed. It appears that the Railway Commissioners cannot meet this added expenditure without legal sanction When the Bill was before the Council recently Mr Willis sought to amend the Bill providing that the Government should be responsible for the added expenditure, but it was ruled out on the ground that it was a financial clause. The Premier refused to comment on the position.
