ANGLICAN SYNOD.

DIOCESE OF CHRISTCHURCH. THE SESSION ENDED. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The third annual session of the 24th Diocesan Synod of Christchurch concluded yesterday, the Bishop’s Commissary, Dlean Carrington,, presiding over a large attendance. On the motion of the Rev. C. A. Fraer, it was resolved that Synod note with interest' the progress of the New Zealand Anglican Bible Class Union in the Church of the Province, and commends the ■ organisation for the youth of the Church to the various parishes in the diocese. It was decided on the motion of the Rev. E. E. Madden that the thanks of Synod be conveyed to the headmaster of Christ’s College and the vicars and vestries of the various parishes who subscribed to the funds of the Diocesan Education Board 1 , and' enabled' the Board to wipe off its debts, in response to the motion passed at the meeting of Synod last year. . Synod congratulated the Te Wai Pounamu Council on the continued progress of the Maori Girls’ School under the superintendence of Sister Kate, C. and on the increase of sympathetic interest in the school manifested in the diocese. A telegram of greeting was sent to the Aucldand Synod, which commenced its session yesterday. The following Standing Committee was elected:—Dean Carrington, Archdeacons F. N. Taylor, J. A. Julius, PB Hagfritt, Canon S. Hamilton, Revs. O.' A. Fraer, H. O. T. Hanby, J. F. Coursey, D. Rankin and P. J. Cocks; Messrs C. E. Jones, K. Matlieson, C. G. Hogg T. Hughes, A. Gordon, H. D. Andrews,’ G. A. M. Macdonald, W. E. D. Bishop, G. H. Stening and E. H. S. Hamilton. A ~ The following were elected to the Education Board:—Mesdames Joughin and C 'L. Young, Misses M. V. Gibson and E. E. Daw, Dean Carrington, Canon J. de B. Galwey, Revs. E. E. Malden, S. Pan*, Messrs C. E. Ferns, T. Hughes, W. E. D. Bishop, and C. E. Jones. Mr W. G. Jamieson moved: That this Synod notes with sympathetic interest the increased support being manifested towards the Community of the Sacred Name, and expresses its appreciation of the work now being done by a voluntary committee to see that the wants of the sisters are to some extent being met. The motion was seconded by Mr H. G. Livingstone and carried. The editor of “Church News,” the Rev. H. O. T. Hanby, in his report for the year 1924-25, stated that the circulation of the journal was now about 3700, and the number of pages from 20 to 24. It was hoped to extend the system of illustrations. The report was laid on the table, it being decided to congratulate the editor on the marked success of the publication. The session then concluded.
