TRAFALGAR DAY.
EMPIRE-WIDE TRIBUTES. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, October 21. Every dominion was represented by garlands on the Trafalgar Memorial on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the battle. ~- Flowers from Australia, New Zealand and India, and a huge maple leaf from Canada, mingled with England’s own tributes, literally smothering the lions and base of the Nelson Memorial. A notice was displayed stating that the ship carrying the usual wreath in ice from Wellington had been delayed owing to the shipping strike, and a vase of flowers was substituted. Earl Jellicoe was to have proposed a toast at the Navy League’s Trafalgar Day dinner, but the sudcfen serious illness of his daughter, Lady Gwendolen, prevented his attendance.
