DE VALERA IN DUBLIN

STILL A REPUBLICAN.

EXHORTATION TO FOLLOWERS.

GAINED POLITICAL VICTORY. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 22, Mr E'amon de Valera was welcomed by 5000 people at Dublin Mansion House. Another 5000 were outside. He declared that these could take the oath of allegiance only to the Republic. The real rebels were those against the Republic. Addressing his followers at the Dublin Mansion House, who were welcoming his release, De Valera said he had been defeated militarily, but had gained a political victory, which left the nation free. No agreements bound them to bow the knee to a foreign power. He exhorted them to love one another in Ireland like little children. There was no glory in civil war.

[Mr De Valera has just been released from prison, to which he was committed as a political offender against the Irish Free State.]
