Tucker. RUGBY FOOTBALL. Great interest is being taken in the Southbridge Shield match to be played at the Showgrounds on Saturday, the challengers being the Hurunui Subunion. The county team is the same in the back division as last Saturday, and can bo looked to to give another brilliant exhibition. The pack has been slightly changed, and # is much strengthened by the inclusion ol L. Chisnall and B. Le Comte. It consists; of the pick of the forwards mtne ■ county. The Hurunui team is without a doubt the best combination to visit Ashburton for some considerable time, and will extend the county men to their utmost. Amongst those playing for the visitors are S. Maxwell, C. Deans, B. Deidreich, Y. H, Robinson, and P. Foster, all having gained Canterbury football honours. A curtain-raiser will be played between the junior representatives or South Canterbury and the county, the former have much .the heavier team, but the local boys are going to make a fast, open game of it. The third grade match, IJigh School v. Rakaia, should be interesting, as these are the two leading teams in this competition. The usual charges will be made for admission, with extra charge for grandstand.
