THE WEATHER.
A RAW, CHILLY DAY. ! The pleasant conditions of yesterday gave place to a chilly night, when four degrees of frost was registered. Thesky clouded over shortly after daybreak, and the sun has had no opportunity to take the chilliness from the air. Consequently the atmosphere is raw and cold. The sky is clear in the north-west, where the well-known "arch" denotes the presence of a north-west wind, which, however, has not yet made its presence felt to any extent in the town. The rest of the sky is clouded over as with a thick blanket.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 56 degrees, and the minimum during the night, measured by the thermometer indoors, was 32 degrees. At 9 a.m. to-day the thermometer stood'' at 29.74. '
