BOYCOTT OF AMERICAN FILMS.

The political ruffians who on Saturi' day invaded the Hotel Imperial interrupting an American dance, called a mass meeting at a Methodist Church and adopted a resolution demanding that churches under the American aegis should not tolerate the exclusion clause, and not only refuse further contributions from the United States, but expel all American missionaries from Japan. The newspaper "Yorodzu" announces that the boycott of American goods I has now extended northwards to Man- j churia and the island of Hokkaido. J The cinema houses in Tolrio have J agreed to discontinue showing Ameri- I can films after July 1. U.S. REPLY TO PROTEST. (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 9. The Government's reply to Japan's formal protest against exclusion will probably be handed to Mr Hanihara on Tuesday. It is understood the ernment will definitely and clearly state that there has been no violation of. existing Treaty obligations. The re- 1 ply will be dignified and friendly but firm.
