Blood transfusion to save life after several haemorrhage is becoming fr'e--1 quent in New Zealand, but in Auckland recently true romance was involved in the surgical process. The patient was a young farmer of fine physique with a known tendency to bleed obstinately. As the result of internal haemorrhage of unrecognised significance that lasted some time, he was "bled white.'' Transfusion was the measure decided upon, and the patient's father was the first volunteer. It was found that his blood belonged to a different group from that of his son, and was unsuitable for transfusion; the blood of other relatives also proved unsuitable, and then the young man's fiancee offered herself. Her blood proved suitable, and on« nint of it was drawn off and j injected into the veins of the young man, and it has set him well on the road to recovery. «
