GELIGNITE USED
ATTEMPTED BANK ROBBERY.

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Between 7 o'clock and 10 o'clock last evening burglars entered the Union Bank of Australia at the corner of Queen and Victoria . Streets, having wrenched the back door open with a crowbar or jemmy. Gelignite was placed in the keyhole of the strong-room and bedding used to deaden the report. The locks were shattered, but the door of the safe held firm. The thieves were frustrated. The contents of the safe were intact. It was the most daring attempt at bank robbery in Auckland for many years.
BURGLARS IN TIMARU. TTMARU, This Day. On going to'his shop in Stafford fitreet this morning, a tailor, F. S. Cave, found the premises had been burglariously entered.. Overcoats and rolls valued at £6O had been stolen. Three weeks ago Mr Cave's shop was entered and £BO worth of stuff stolen. Entry on this occasion was made through the same window which, as before, bad been smashed in.
