The Health Department reports that the numbet of cases of pneumonic influenza &»d pneumonia in various health, districts for the week endod yesterday were as follow :—- Auckland: Pneumonic influenza ease&, 18; deaths, 7; pneumonia cases, 9 A death, 1. Hawke’s Bav: Pneumonic influenza 'ease, 1; death, 0; pneumonia case, 1; death, 0. 'Wanganui and Taraivaki: Pneumonic influenza cases, 10; 'death, 0; pneumonia case, 1; death, 0. Wellington: Pneumonic influenza cases, 5; deaths, pneumonia eases, 3; deaths, 2. Canterbury: Pneumonic influenza cases, 62; deaths, 7; pneumonia cases, 5; deaths, 2. Otago: Pneuffionic influenza cases, 53; deaths 19; 'pneumonia cases, 2; death, 0. North Auckland reports no cases of influenza or pneumonia for the week. The Health Department states that the figures quoted above strengthen the view that the present influenza- epidemic is in no gvay dissimilar from that of 1920.

“No fresh cases of pneumonic influenza ‘to- of pneumonia have 'been reported in the city or in the North Canterbury district,” said Dr. Telford, District Health Officer, yesterday. “However, no 'information regarding the West Coast;is yet to hand. The schools are sail open again in the city and attendances are practically normal. . . On account of the prevalence of influenza, -visitors have not been-tmowed at the iSunnyside Mental Hospital recently. However, a* from next‘■Satnrday, 'visiters will be allowed as casual.
REPOST FROM DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN. This Day'. During the past 24 ’hours there were ten fresh pneumonic notifications. The patients in the isolation hospital now number 30. Another death was reported. Twenty-nine members of the Hospital nursing staff are off duty. All the schools in'-the city are re-opened. A METHVEN CASE. A case of pneumonic influenza was reported to the Hoalth author ities in Ashburton this morning from Methven, and the patient was removed to the Comity Hospital. There are now 12 such cases m the Ashburton Hospital, and the/Medical Superintendent (Dr. J. Russell Wells) reported this afternoon that all the cases are getting on very- well and making progress that was considered satisfactory.
