ANNUAL CONFERENCE
(Per Pres» Association.) WELLINGTON, March 31. The Churches of Christ are holding the annual Dominion- conference. A j large number of delegates are preiaent. | in his presidential address, Mr ; Cairns, of Lower Hult,, appealed to | the churches to rise ' to the great opportunity. Men were seeking for light and truth, and a. plea was. being put forward for a return to Christ and His. teaching. Thursday was devoted to women’s work, Miss Oldfield, of Wellington, presiding. The report showed that the women, of the church had been busy amongst the poor and the children. The financial sheets showed that money had been raised for missionaries in. South Africa, and for home work. The president-elect of the women’s work is. Mrs Theodore Arnold,, and the 1 secretary is Miss Lydia NeilcL, 1 The home missions returns, show ,268 additions to the churches- for the year.. •, The' president-elect is Mr.- J.. Inbles Wright,, of Dunedin, the executive remaining, iin Wellington. The next conference will b© held at South. Dunedin.

The North Island Baptists’’ Young Monks Bible- Glasses are holding their annual camp here. The record! attendance. of 330 delegates was welcomed by the Mayor.. Mr W. A. Craig was elected president.. It was- resolved that the next camp should! bB- held at Palmerston North.

CONFERENCE IN CHRISTCHURCH
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
The- seventh annual conference' of the New Zealand Labour Party, which will Be* opened in Christchurch at 10 a.m. to-daj*, will continue, probably, until Wednesday or Thursday. Mr T. Brindle (Wellington), president, will he in; the chair, and five members of Parliament, Messrs J. McCombs, P. Fraser, H. Holland, J. W. Munro, and R. McKean, will be amongst the delegates. It will bo the first conference of the Now Zealand Labour Party held in Christchurch.
Subjects for discussion include alterations to the constitution, selection of platform, land tenure, education, taxation',. defence, conscription, organisation. State bank and co-operation.
THE OAMARU SEAT. MR LEE TO STAND. WELLINGTON, March 31. The former member for Oamaru, Mr E. ,P. Lee, announced to the special correspondent of the “Lyttelton Times” that he will contest the election, and will leave here for Oamaru to-night, reaching there on Monday. Questioned regarding the probable date of the contest, Mr Leo said that he thought it scarcely possible to hold it in April, as the order of the Court voiding the December election lias to reach the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who must notify it m the “Gazette.” His warrant is then issued to the Clerk of Writs, who wdl issue a writ returnable in twenty-eight days.
