WELLINGTON v. SOUTHLAND. INVERCARGILL, February 14. The'weather was fine and the wicket was very fiery, being difficult all day. In Southland’s first innings Henderson struck a “patch” on the pitch, and at times his bowling flew over the batsmen’s heads or kept low, being always hard to sight. He did the hat trick. Wellington were lucky to make 159 through Southland easing up when the last man came in. The last wicket put on over 50 runs. Henderson hit six fours, and played the howling well. Dempster also shaped well, otherwise there was little noteworthy. INVERCARGILL, February 15.
The Wellington - Southland match was resumed to-day, but after an over in the morning play was adjourned till the afternoon owing to rain, and then play was only possible for an hour, when the game was finally abandoned.
