A telegram from Los Angeles says that Rosco'e ("Fatty") Arbuckle has announced that he will never act again, but he has signed a contract With "a kinema firm to act as director of'their comedies. He said: " From now on the public will heaf : • from me only through the medium of the pictures I direct." . >

Some months ago " Fatty" Arbuckle was charged with having caused the death of Virginia Rappe. After a lengthy trial he was acquitted . It was recently announced that he intended returning to the kinema business, and there was a great outcry in the American Press against his being permitted to do so. Arbuckle films were withdrawn from exhibition for a considerable time.
