OBITUARY.
MR EDWARD SAUNDERS.
WELLINGTON/, Thisi Day. The death is announced of Mr Edward* Saunders, journalist, aged. * 4U. He. was a -member of the Dominion staff. The-cause was heajt failure following penumonia. ~ V. N [Mr Edward Saunders was a ’son of Mr Samuel Saunders, who was editor of the 1 “'Lyttelton Times’ for a number of years'/} MRS M. R. LUSK. The-death took place at hen-residence, “ Kilwood/MBeach Road, this morning of Mrs Mary Ramsay Lusk, at'the ripe old age of 90 years. Mrs Lusk was the widow of Mr Archibald Lusk, who- died in Ashburton some 16 years, ago. She was horn at Greenock Renfrew, Scot- j land, on June 25, 1832, and came to New Zealand with her husband and a small family in October, 1864. Tl ie is ship, the William Miles, landed them at Lyttelton, and the passengers had to walk over the bridle track leading over the hills to Christchurch there being no tunnel in those days. Mr and Mrs Lusk settled in Christchurch ._ -Some 30 years ago they came to. live in Ashburton, and followed farming pursuits. Mrs Lusk, who was of a very retiring disposition, was universally esteemed. Up till six months ago she enjoyed fairlv good health, hut latterly had failed considerably. There were eight ] children in the family, but only four now survive, one son and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs 1. W. Ambrose, Rangiora; Mrs W. Rankin Pendarves; and' Miss Lusk, Ashburton. The son is Mr David Lusk, who resided with his late mother on Beach Road. There were very few grandchildren. Tim bereaved relatives will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
