After a tour of the Continent and Great Britain, . extending over nine months, Mrs W. H. Collins, Miss Collins, and Mr and Mrs R. A. Collins are expected to return to New Zealand bv the Ulimaroa, which is due in Wellington to-day. Mrs Collins and party are expected in Ashburton tomorrow morning. i

The London branch of the Australian Natives’ Association gave a reception to Sir Bertram MacKennal at the Royal Colonial Institute. AngloAustralians attended to congratulate Sir Bertram McaKennal upon his election as a Royal Academician. The London branch has decided to extend its membership to include those closely associated with Australia and New Zealand, though they may not be native-born.

The Rev. Samuel Lawry, the Connexional secretary of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, has been preaching for 50 years., The event was celebrated in the Durham Street (Christchurch) Church parlour on Monday evening, when Mr Lawry invited his ministerial brethren, the local preachers, and the deaconesses of Greater Christchurch to tea. The Rev. William Ready, who presided, presented Mr Lawry with a fountain pen as a small token of appreciation, and several present testified to the enriching ministry which he was exercising in different parts of Canterbury. Mr Lawry gave an interesting address in reply, acknowledging his indebtedness to the early missionaries who used to stay at his father’s house for weekends. , v
