A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. The Ashburton Amateur Athletic Club’s evening sports meeting on Saturday was attended by a large number of enthusiasts. All the races provided very close finishes which reflected great credit on tho handicapper. The mile was won in the good time of 4min 38secs. Results : 100yds—1st heat: G. Manchester (4yds) 1, A. Time—--10 4-ssec One mile—R. Clark (70yds) 1, E. Orr (150yds) 2, R. Stone (150yds) 3. Time—4min 33sec. 220yds—W. S. McClymont (scr) 1, E. It. Easterbrook (12yds) 2, N. Johnson (12yds) 3. Time—24sec. Half-mile Relay—Baring Square No. 2, 50yds, (A. McClymont, R. Stone, N, Johnson and N. Ibbotson).
