WELLINGTON, September 7. It is not "certain yet whether the Tariff Bill will be finished this,, session, or partly held over until the session following. It is known, that the tariff will be preferential m regard to British as against foreign goods entering the Dominion, but it is not thought that it will be highly protective. The general feeling of the country is generally understood to be against a stiff protective tariff, with a, view to fostering local industries.
