ASHBURTON RAILWAY PICNIC.

Last Sunday the local Railway staff and their friends held a picnic m the Tinwald Domain, the party being conveyed to Tinwald m motor-cars and lorries. The day was art enjoyable one, the Domain proving an excellent picnic ground. An interesting. " programme of events was run off and the picnic was such a success that it has been decided to make it an annual function. The events resulted as ■ follows : — Railway 1 Handicap, 100 yards.— -C. Withell 1, P. Hurrell 2. Spinsters' race, Miss Ibell 1, Miss Chapman 2. 220 yds handicap, J. Wonnacott 1, F. Josland 2. . Old buffers' race, D. Scrimmager 1, W. Woodbury 2. Carriers' race, C. Ward 1, F. Looms 2. Railway married women's race, Mrs Troon 1, Mrs Wonnacott. 2. Three-legged race, Messrs Troon and Douglas 1,-C- Barry and F. Chirnside 2. Consolation race, J. Douglas 1, W. Lennon 2. Committee race, D. Scrimmager 1, W. J•Black 2, J. Traill 3.
