COUNTY CENTRES.
RAKAIA. In the Rakaia Town Hall the Rakaia Hockey Ciub held a dance m aid of the. funds. There were a good number present, and the music supplied by Wells' Band was much enjoyed. -\lr &, A. Oliver acted as M.C. The annual meeting of the South Rakaia Domain Board was held on Monday. There were present : Messrs C. A. C. Hardy (chairman), A. J. M'agson, T. Blackley, J. Penny, T. McLean, and G. S. Hardy. The annual statement showed a bank balance of £297, 7s. The Hon. C. A. C. Hardy was reelected chairman. Word. was .received from the Undersecretary for the Department confirming the appointment of Mr G. S. Hardy as a member of the board, and he was elected secretary. It was agreed to apply to the County Council for the usual subsidy. Accounts amounting to d^2B 18s 5d wore passed for payment. Mr J. Sowden wrote asking' for permission to lay down a turf track for training purposes. — It was agreed to grant permission for\ the work to be •done subject to being completed to the approval of the board. It was agreed that the caretaker should report to the chairman anyone using the track without having paid the annual fee It was decided to ask the Lands Department to send along an expert to advise the board on the planting and care of trees. It was agreed to call for tenders for the sale of the balance of the big.'treefc between the drive and Normanby Street, some 3000 trees m all; v • Messrs C. A; C. Hardy, A. J. Magson, and T. Blackley were appointed a sub-committee to attend to the removal of some trees near the bowling green. It was agreed that the caretaker should arrange for the cutting of the grass on the football arid hockey grounds.
