AUCUKLAND, April :28. In view of the very grav>e effects of the strike upon the industries of the city, Bie Mayor lias been asked to call a meeting of ihe business to discuss the .situation. In the meantime, however, he is in communication with tlie Priiae Minister wiUh a wie-w to ascertaining the position as .regards tlie pay of the raihvuymen .and the offers of the Government.
The Auckland Provincial .Farmers' Union is also communicating with Mr Massey mid the Locomotive Association with reference to the menace to food- supplies as a result of the holding up' of primary products. The tramways and electricity services 'are ;already threatened through lack of coal. No goods tpfnc is being accepted tfor the few trains which are running.
