WILLOWBY.
The annual meeting of householders was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, when there was a fair attendance. Mr W. T. Lill, tho retiring chairman, presided. The chairman reported a credit balance, of £20 lis Bd, and tl>at the books had been audited and found correct. The work of the school had gone on quietly during the year, and the inspector's report had been highly satisfactory. Owing: to the difficulty of getting labour, several necessary repairs to the buildings had had to stand over, but the matters would be attended to as early as possible. Tlie committee had also drawn the attention of the Hoard to the condition of the buildings generally, which needed painting and otherwise renovating. Mr Lill ■ introduced the matter of school cadets, and moved that the cadet system that previously obtained in the schools be re-instituted and take the place of the present Territorial system.—Mr Harding seconded, and. after discussion, the motion was carried.
On the motion of. Mr Harding, seconded by Mr Watson, a hearty- vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring committee. Mr Lill. on behalf of tho committee, replied, thanking the meeting for its cordial vote, which he very much appreciated. The following five gentlejarm wero then duly nominated for the committee for the "ensuing year:—Messrs A. S. Haymnn. H, Doll-man. R. .T, Knox. W.C. Whitehead, and W. T.-Lill; and as the number nominated did not exceed the number required, they were declared duly elected. At a subset-font meeting of the committee Mr Lill was re-elected chairman and Mr Whitehead secretary.
