FINES FOR GAMBLING.

GISBORNE, April 27. In the Magistrate's Court Michael Dennehy was fined £30, in default six months' imprisonment, as the occupier of a house used for gaming.

Charles Croon was fined £100 for keeping premises for betting, and was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on another charge of frequenting the roadway for betting purposes. The sentence was conditional on his leaving the district.

Arthur Owen; on two charges of gambling in the street, was fined £100 on one charge, and ordered to come up for sentence on July 26 on the other.
