TAXING WAR FORTUNES.

(Received April 28, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, April 27. Tho Taxation of War Fortunes Committee has practically agreed on a scheme embodying the scale of abatement in respect of the pre-war wealth. If under £25,000, the abatement will be 100 per cent : if £25,000 to £50,000, 65 per cent; if .between £200,000 and, £500,000, 31 per "cent. • The diminished value of money will be taken into account in drawing up the final scheme. It is estimated that five hundred millions will be forthcoming from 75,000 taxpaj'ers.
