Kennedy, the local manager of the Union Company, states that,, on the recommendation of the executive of the men's union, the Government surveyors, Messrs Suisted and Hely, inspected the Maori's boilers to decide whether they were seaworthy. They reported that the boilers were slightly, leaking, but were perfectly seaworthy, and tljere was no reason why the vessel should not go to sea. The union advised the men, on this report, to take the vessel to sea, but they definitely refused. • Work is proceeding on the boilers, and it is hoped that the vessel will be ready to take, up ber usual run on ,Mondfty. ■ • ' : ■■.■,.'.
