A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

(To the Editor "Quahdian.")

Sir, —I read with great interest Mr A. J. Keith's letter in your issue of yesterday on the above statrject, and I must say- that L ag_reo entirely withi the views'expressed in his letter. It was only after extreme pressure that I: consented to nomination for the position of president, as 1 have already held the position, and was not keen for a further term of.office,. I gave my consent only as a protest; a,gainst the. departure from " the long-established principle that a president should 1 not hold office for more than one year.: I also feel certain that this view i 3 held bly'-a large majority of the association's members.

While there is no doubt that, Mr. Cow has done good work as president, I have not heard any sound argument advanced why the rule wbioh has existed for so long should be departed from-. W« have had equally capable presidents, in the past who. have not soughty nor have they been asked to. accept, the

honour of re-election

There is no doubt, in my mind, < that Mr Ang'iis Horseyj this . year's;yice- vprcßiflent-, should bo elected to the position, and I am ready and willing to retire now from the contest if Mr Cow will do the same. Failing this; I shall hope to receive the Bupport of, all members of the association who agree witb the ■ principle for which I am standing.

JOHN STRINGITEIiLOW. i
